The Brighton Estate is a master planned community and as such has wonderful physical amenities, parks and playgrounds for all sectors of the community to utilize and enjoy on a daily basis. The Brighton Community Centre (located on Kingsbridge Park near the lake) provides a suitable venue for community purposes. Brighton Estate has gone ahead in leaps and bounds during 2008 and it looks to continue in 2009 with Brighton residents being able to leisurely stroll around Kingsbridge Park at the east end of the lake.
Satterley and the Brighton Joint Venture are well aware of the need to provide a venue for the community to enable relevant interaction for development. The sales office located on the corner of Kingsbridge Boulevard and Marchwood Boulevard provides this venue and for further information view the community notice board for happenings within the community. The community centre is completed and open.
A child care centre for the Brighton community adjacent to the Brighton Village Shopping Centre is now fully operational.
The Brighton Estate has some magnificent artworks located within the beautiful parks for example, The Fork in the Road and Brighton Big Tap are both imaginative and eye catching. There is also distinctive artwork from Tony Jones Studios which have been installed in the playground at the Dunes and a memorial statue at the Garry Meinck Park at The Green. The public artworks are very thought provoking and create a natural ambience for the parklands within the Estates and are frequently the talking point of many leisurely strolls around the parks.
The Satterley and the Brighton Joint Venture continue to work in close cooperation with the community to implement both short and long term opportunities for business and employment for the local Brighton community.
The Brighton Village Centre Shopping Centre has been operating since August 2006. Located on the corner of Marmion Ave and Kingsbridge Boulevard, the centre includes, Coles, Beautician, Optometrist, Hairdresser, Barber, Newsagency, Brumbies, Pizza, Fish and Chips, Vet, Café, Real Estate Agent, Bottleshop and Bankwest. The opening of this complex has been a boost for local employment with approximately three quarters of Coles employees living in the area. The new Brighton Tavern is currently under construction and will open early 2010.
The Brighton Estate Residents Association in-conjunction with the community has developed a local trades and services directory to provide the community a link to local trade and service providers. A copy of the directory is available at the Brighton Sales Office or at www.brighton-intranet.com.au.

Satterley and the Brighton Joint Venture understand both the short and long term benefits associated with the provision of opportunities for education and training within a community. The provision of playgroups, primary and high schools and further educational opportunities are the backbone for a bright future for a community.
In 2005 Satterley and the Brighton Joint Venture hosted a Business and Employment Opportunities Forum which highlighted the need for locally based pre-apprenticeship training programs in building and construction. The forum and subsequent consultation with key stakeholders resulted in the ‘in-principle’ support for the provision of a Trade Skills Training Shed within the Brighton Estate. ‘The Shed’ is now operating, with the Brighton Joint Venture funding the construction and West Coast and Swan TAFE delivering the training courses.
The Butler Primary School, East Butler Primary School, Irene McCormack Catholic College and the Brighton Catholic Primary School are in full swing.
The Brighton Joint Venture offers heaps of fun activities and opportunities for the youth of Brighton including, youth film courses, school holiday activities, a free after school fitness program and plenty of events that cater specifically for the 0 – 21 age bracket. A Brighton Youth Council, consisting of a number of youth from the Brighton area, has been established. This group meets on a regular basis to discuss issues for local youth, and provides a voice for young people in the Brighton community.

The Brighton Estate is located within the City of Wanneroo in the suburbs of Butler and Ridgewood and is approximately 40 kilometres north of Perth. The suburb name, Butler was adopted by the Shire of Wanneroo in 1979 to honour John Butler who was the first recorded explorer of the area (1834). The suburb of Ridgewood relates to a wooded ridge on the Swan coastal plain in 1997. The *total population for Butler in 2004 was 3,320 and Ridgewood 1086 and this is expected to increase significantly over coming years (*Source: Forecast.id, 2003). The medium age of residents was 25 and 27 years old respectively with couples/families making up the bulk of the residents.
Well organised and implemented events have been a major draw card at the Brighton Estate since its inception and highlight events have included the annual Carols by Candlelight, Australia Day Breakfast, Movies in the Park and regular summer concerts. As the photos reveal healthy crowds attend these events/activities and all interested persons are encouraged to get along and enjoy the experience. The events/activities provide opportunities for the community to socialise and enjoy the spectacular array of entertainers and fun associated with these events. The Brighton Intranet is a locally produced website that keeps interested residents up-to-date with the latest news, views and local information concerning the overall Brighton Estate development. The Intranet site is designed to provide useful information on the latest news, bulletin boards, Neighbourhood Watch, events, activities and trade/sale information.

The first residents moved into the Brighton Estate in November 2001 and by May 2003, an initial steering committee was formed leading to the formation of the Association in August 2003. Since the establishment of the committee, in excess of 40 community and sporting groups have been established at Brighton. BERA conducts regular committee meetings (once per month) and hold three general meetings (public forums) per year to enable residents to have input and remain directly informed. The Brighton Estate Residents Association is a pro-active group of local residents who are passionate about the on-going development of the Brighton Estate.
Meetings for the Association are held in the Kingsbridge Park Community Centre. Any resident who has suggestions or comments for the committee or wishes to join in the activities of a sub committee can contact, Sophie Gerrick (04) 1967-7808 or email bera-events@bigpond.com.
The Brighton Living and Brighton Bulletin are local newsletters that contain a huge amount of localized information and are available every two months. The Brighton Joint Venture produces the Brighton Bulletin for the Estate and this newsletter contains information on events, estate development, programs and services available, reports from project/sales managers, Brighton Estate Residents Association report and community contacts. The Brighton Living newsletter is written by the community and provides a close link to the community with ‘grassroots’ reporting on the happenings within the estate.
