Playground

The Dalyellup Beach Estate is a master planned community and as such has wonderful physical amenities, parks and playgrounds for all sectors of the community to utilize and enjoy on a daily basis. Dalyellup Beach incorporates over 140 hectares of coastal reserve with family parks on the foreshore ensuring great opportunities to indulge in water sports, fishing, beach/bush walking or just enjoy wandering along the boardwalk to the fabulous family beach park.

This is complemented by picturesque lakes all within twenty hectares of centralised parklands that are integrated into a path network, for example, you can cycle/walk from Dalyellup Boulevard to the beach within the Dalyellup Beach Estate. Families and friends can also relax and enjoy one of the many landscaped parks and picnic grounds that have barbeques and playgrounds for community use.

A path network, the ‘Tuart Walk’ links the Dalyellup Beach Estate to the greater Bunbury area offering an opportunity to walk or cycle to the City of Bunbury.

Dalyellup Beach Community Centre

Community Centre

The Dalyellup Beach Estate and Shire of Capel are well aware of the need to provide a venue for the community to enable relevant social interaction for the development of the community. The multi functional community centre is located next to the Dalyellup Beach Village Shops and consists of a large hall, purpose built playgroup and toy library, counseling offices, meeting rooms, offices, storage and kitchen facilities. The Centre offers a huge array of programs and services for the community with a range of interest groups and activities already operating from the centre. All residents are encouraged to join in or form there own groups whether it be a playgroup, yoga or book club and for further information call the Shire of Capel on 9727 0222 or visit the website at www.capel.wa.gov.au.

Shire of Capel - Dalyellup Beach Library

Library

The Shire of Capel's Dalyellup Public Library came about through community action and is located at the Village Shopping Centre adjacent to the Community Centre. The library is open from Tuesday to Saturday at set times and for further information contact 9795 7815.

Business & Employment

The Dalyellup Beach Estate and other key partners continue to work in close cooperation with the community to implement both short and long term opportunities for business and employment for the local Dalyellup Beach community.

Dalyellup Beach Shopping Village

The Dalyellup Beach Shopping Village provides a hub of opportunities for the community to access essential goods and services without leaving the estate. The Village incorporates a music school, medical centre, café/deli, public library and sales and information office with the community centre located adjacent the village.

Dalyellup Beach Community, Trades & Services Directory

The Satterley Property Group in-conjunction with the community has developed a local Dalyellup Community Directory to provide the community a link to local opportunities including, emergency services, schools, health, sporting, voluntary, church and child care options that are available. A Trades and Services Directory is also available providing a ready list of useful trades and services that operate from and within the Estate. A copy of both directories is available at the Dalyellup Sales and Information Office.

Education & Youth

The Dalyellup Beach Estate and key partners understand both the short and long term benefits associated with the provision of opportunities for education and training within a community. The provision of playgroups, primary and high schools and further educational opportunities are the backbone for a bright future for a community.

Dalyellup College

The Dalyellup Primary School is now part of the new 'Dalyellup College' which opened its doors at the beginning of February 2009.  Years 5-8 are located on the Dalyellup Boulevard campus while K-4 is at the existing Primary School building on Hartog Road.

Gary Quinn is the Principal of the new amalgamated school which caters for K-12 over the two campuses. Gary is looking forward to the community utilsing the new facilities and started with the Easter Family Fun Day held on Easter Sunday this year - a partnership with the Dalyellup Beach Community Association and Dalyellup Beach Estate.

Youth Activities and Opportunities

Community BBQ

The Shire of Capel offers fun activities and opportunities for the youth of Dalyellup including school holiday activitites and youth events, for more information please contact Michelle Plume or Sue Hall - Shire of Capel Community Development on 9727 0222.

Play group

The Dalyellup Beach playgroup provides activities and support for children, parents and babies. There is morning and afternoon sessions in the purpose built facility at the community centre.





Play group

In 2008 Satterley Property Group's South West Community Development department in partnership with local schools and the Shire of Capel started the Dalyellup Youth Advisory Council (YAC). The group is involved in local decision making, event management and other community projects. Over 50's

Over 50's group

Dalyellup is a great place for the over 50's. Dalyellup has over 30 clubs and groups, one of these is the Over 50's headed up by Val and Fay, they organise the weekly Gentle Gym and also a monthly morning tea and activity session. They also organise excursions and get involved with Group TENG (To Encourage Native Gardens).

Eddie Ferridge coordinates the Men's Group which is open to guys from all backgrounds and age groups. They meet once a month and organise excursions and guest speakers.

Community Safety and Crime Prevention

Dalyellup residents with support through the Shire of Capel continue to be pro-active in preserving their way of life through involvement in a wide range of positive community safety and crime prevention initiatives. In late 2004 the Shire of Capel in partnership with the State Government developed a local community safety and crime prevention plan reflecting areas of concern in-conjunction with sustainable strategies. The strategies revolve around the Neighbourhood Watch groups with an aim to reduce preventable crime and help neighbours meet and greet each other. The Dalyellup/Gelorup Neighbourhood Watch Group has commenced and for more information contact Donna Sims at the Shire of Capel on 9727 0222.

History and demographics of Capel and the Dalyellup Beach Estate

Dalyellup beach

Capel was settled very early in the history of Western Australia and in the 1830’s Governor, Captain James Stirling and later Governor John Hutt acquired land along the rich coastal strip. Capel and surrounding areas are traditional lands for the Wardandi Nyungar people. Dalyellup Beach is a new community located within the Shire of Capel and has an estimated population of approximately (as at June 2009) 5200 with approximately 1800 homes completed. It has been identified that 54% of the Dalyellup population are under 18 years of age and the population will swell to approximately 10,000 by 2018.

Events and Community Activities

Community activities

Well organised and implemented events have been a major draw card at the Dalyellup Beach Estate since its inception and highlight events have included the James Morrison Concert, annual Carols by Candlelight, Founders Day community event, Movies in the Park and regular summer concerts. As the photos reveal healthy crowds attend these events/activities and the Satterley Property Group encourage all interested persons to get along and enjoy the experience. The events/activities provide opportunities for the community to socialise and enjoy the spectacular array of entertainers and fun associated with these events. An annual calendar of events is produced to showcase the events to the community ensuring high attendances.

Dalyellup Beach Community Association (DBCA)

The Dalyellup Beach Community Association (DBCA) formed as a steering committee in May 2002 and held the first Annual General Meeting (AGM) in August 2002. Annette Dix was elected as the President and held the position for three years.

The DBCA is an independent, incorporated association that represents the interest of all Dalyellup residents. The DBCA's mission is to achieve a safe proud and thriving community, a healthy environment and support the various Dalyellup Groups. We support and assist the various events that are held in Dalyellup, we held our first DBCA event for 2009 on Easter Sunday.

Dalyellup Roundup

The Dalyellup Roundup contains a huge amount of localized information and is available every three months. The Dalyellup Joint Venture produces the Dalyellup Roundup for the Estate and this newsletter contains information on events, estate development, programs and services available, reports from project/sales managers, Dalyellup Beach Community Association and other community contacts.
