The junior players are issued handicaps and play competitions each week. They are taught how to score correctly and even gain public speaking skills when having to make the winners speeches. The Academy also runs a developmental programs with several schools including Comet Bay College, Tranby College, Warnbro High, Living Waters, Mandurah Baptist College, Secret Harbour and Comet Bay Primary. The Academy also runs many specialist programs including ladies beginner programs.

Secret Harbour Surf Lifesaving Club (SHSLSC) Nippers program is a great opportunity for parents and their children to meet great people from the local area and for them to achieve great things while setting themselves on a pathway to a happy, healthy lifestyle.
It caters for children from 5-19 years of age who want to learn about life saving, to compete in life saving carnivals and to enjoy meeting and working with friends and peers in a safe environment, while following strict policies provided by the Australian Nipper-safe Program.
The objectives of the Youth Development are to teach beach safety and life saving techniques to children while encouraging the development of friendship, teamwork skills and commitment to a healthy lifestyle.
